When presenting my workshop on “Building Insanely Great Products” to 70 CXOs in Singapore, I talked in depth about the importance that an organization should have and use a set of values. Everybody who makes a recommendation provides advice and makes decisions in an organization does that with the backdrop of what “values” the organization stands for.
After the workshop was over, one of the CXOs came up to me and said, “You know, we have many really famous and great speakers come to Singapore (not that he was suggesting I was one of them :)). Some talk about values, some talk about vision, some talk about mission and some talk about culture. You are the first to connect the dots”.
I had told stories about how the HP Way and Apple Values governed our work at HP and Apple. In short: Values + Vision/Mission = Culture.
