What is a really good job description for a product manager?

To get an idea on what a really good job description for a product manager is, I was asked this question on Quora. Here are the top answers including mine:

Most job descriptions of product managers mix up the roles of product management with product marketing and sometimes insert things like user experience, user interface design, and other roles.

For my books “Building Insanely Great Products: Some Products Fail, Many Succeed…This is their Story” available now on Amazon http://spicecatalyst.com/buildin… and “Foundations in the Successful Management of Products” coming soon from Wiley: 7 Volumes covering 130+ Competencies I did some research and wrote this blog about it: http://wp.me/p39FDx-1TP

Most are “hand me down” from other companies with little thought to extensive competencies required for success and/or interpersonal and organizational behavior.
